ABOUT THE POPPY SYSTEM
What is poppy?
poppy is a modular, magnetic, small-batch art system. Hand-painted tiles click onto frames or poppy Boxes so you can mix, match, rearrange, and refresh your art as often as you like—no tools, no fuss.
How does it work?
Each timber tile has a concealed magnet, and each base (frame or box) includes a steel plate. Tiles simply “click” into place and can be swapped out whenever inspiration strikes.
Are the tiles really hand-painted?
Yes. Every tile - whether a simple base colour or a more intricate design - is hand-painted or hand-screen printed from original designs in small batches in Clunes NSW.
What makes Poppy different?

SAFETY & CARE
Are poppy tiles safe for children’s rooms?
Yes—but with supervision. Magnets are fully concealed, but tiles should be kept out of reach of very small or unsupervised children. The system is designed for safe use, but it’s still a magnetised art object, not a toy.
Are the frames heavy?
A little. Larger steel-backed frames have similar weight to a big framed glass artwork. For safety, we recommend a professional installer for large pieces and confirming your wall can support the weight.
How do I clean my tiles?
With a soft, dry cloth only. No harsh cleaners, moisture, or abrasive products.
STYLING & USAGE
Can I style flowers in a poppy Box?
Absolutely. Tall and Small poppy Boxes are perfect for sculptural or floral displays—dried, faux, or fresh.
Fresh flowers just need a vessel inside the box (FYI - 2L milk bottles with the top cut off fit Tall poppy; yoghurt tubs or salsa jars fit Small poppy!).
Can I move my tiles between bases?
Yes! That’s the whole point. Rearrange tiles between frames, boxes, or new releases to reinvent your space anytime.
Do the tiles fall off?
No. The industrial-strength magnets hold fast while still allowing easy rearranging.
Are frames included?
Frames are sold separately unless marked as a bundle.
Will they damage my walls?
No. The steel plates hang like a normal picture frame.
LIGHTING RANGE
What is included with poppy lighting pieces?
All lighting pieces (Halo, Lantern, Pendant) include a remote controlled rechargeable light source and one art tile or printed Poppy swatch (depending on the product).
Are the lights bright?
They give a warm, atmospheric glow—perfect for shelves, bedside styling, or soft mood lighting.
Do I need to plug them in?
No. All lights are cordless, rechargeable, and designed for flexible styling. The poppy range is not designed for hard wired light fittings.
Can I swap the tile or shade on my poppy light?
Yes! Halos use a magnetic tile, while Lanterns and Pendants use printed swatches. Change them anytime to match the season, your décor, or your mood.
Are they safe to leave on?
Yes—LED, low-heat, rechargeable, and safe for indoor residential use. Always keep away from flammable materials.

Where do you ship from?
All pieces ship from Clunes, NSW.
Do you ship internationally?
At the moment, Australia only—international coming soon.
Can I return or exchange tiles?
Unused items in original condition can be returned within 14 days. Custom or one-off pieces are final sale.
What if the colour looks different in real life?
All photos are taken in natural light, but variations can occur. poppy tiles are hand-painted and small-batch—each piece is intentionally unique.
PRODUCT & CUSTOMISATION
What's the difference between standard, enhanced and premium tiles?
Standard: Hand-painted base colours
Enhanced: Base colours are hand-screen printed with original design elements.
Premium: One-off original artworks — no two are ever the same.
Can I commission a custom tile?
Limited custom commissions open a few times per year. Join the email list to be notified.
Can I choose my own colours and themes?
Yes- in fact pick out painted pieces yourself is our motto! Mix any palette (warm, cool, soft, bright) with any theme. Or choose a curated bundle if you prefer ready-made combinations.
Do tiles come in different sizes?
Yes—multiple sizes from small to large. 70x70, 70x140, 140x140, 140x280, 280x280mm. View product pages to see how they can all sit together.
Are poppy releases limited?
Yes. Everything is produced in small batches. Once a batch is gone, it usually won’t return exactly the same again.
Do frames come in different sizes?
Yes—multiple sizes from small to large to house different tile combinations. 293x293mm inc frame, 433x433mm inc frame , 573x713mm inc frame. View product pages to see how they hold tile combinations.
INSTALLATION & TECHNICAL
Do I need tools?
No tools needed for tiles or boxes—just unbox and style.
Frames require standard picture-hanging hardware. Please note that the larger pieces eg 573x713mm are substantial in weight—similar to a large framed glass artwork—and may require professional installation to ensure they’re safely and securely positioned.
What is compatible with the optional spinning base?
The spinning base snaps onto the bottom of poppy boxes and the poppy Lantern to give you a dynamic, swivelling display without tools or installation.
