The story behind poppy

Some ideas don’t give up — they tap you on the shoulder over and over until you finally listen.

poppy began as one of those ideas.

For years, I’d painted, collected colours, rearranged objects and loved making our space feel like home. The problem was I had minimal wall space, little storage and lots of ideas. During my daydreams, persistent wishes kept popping up: I wish I could swap that for that.... If only I could put that there.... dang I wish that could flat pack.... how could I make that go there? 

poppy grew from that curiosity.

Drawing on the nostalgia of my childhood and that of my kids, the memories of creative play - of wooden blocks, Lego pieces, puzzles,'choose your own adventure' books - I started experimenting with paint, timber and magnets until poppy arrived.

Rooted in small-batch making and slow craft, each tile begins as an original artwork, then becomes part of a system designed to encourage play, pause and personal expression.
